Smart windows in the train are designed by Indian Railways to enhance passenger experience, maintain privacy

Indian Railways has continuously offered many amenities on trains to enhance the experience of passengers. The smart train window is the newest in the list of convenient features for passengers. As an experimental project, the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani train has mounted a smart window. The smart window guarantees passengers' privacy throughout the ride. The AC1 coach of the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani train has been fitted with smart windows for the time being.

A high degree of optical quality, privacy, and reliability are supported by the smart windows. The smart window will become 'opaque' in color when the rail passenger on board the train switches on the light, which in turn thwarts external glare. The 'opaque' window feature would make it difficult for individuals outside the train to peep inside the coach, thus ensuring the privacy of the passenger during rail journey.

The smart windows would also shield passengers from unnecessary lights and provide them with protection against harsh UV rays. The windows provide greater comfort and experience for travelling.

Meanwhile, in other news, the Ministry of Railways may propose some steps in the forthcoming Union Budget 2021-22 that could refurbish the revenue manifold of the IRCTC. Indian Railways' tourism and catering wing is preparing to take a new measure to raise its revenues.

Under the new system, ready-to-eat meals will be implemented on the basis of airline service trends. To execute this strategy, IRCTC has joined hands with businesses such as Haldiram, ITC, MTR, Wagh Bakri, and other major food brands. The trains with the pantry system will cease the contract after its implementation and shift the duty to IRCTC to serve the passengers ready-to-eat meals.
